Wreck (2022), Episode 2 – Catch Of The Day

I Really Hate Needles

8th October 2022

We see Pippa, Jodie Tyack (“The Window (TV)”, “Agatha Raisin (TV)”), making her video application to join the cruise line. We hear Jamie, Oscar Kennedy (“School’s Out Forever”, “Ladhood (TV)”), behind the camera and also their father, who Pippa says is “shit faced”.

Back on board and Lauren, Amber Grappy (“The Baby (TV)”), is cleaning up after the party. She appears to be alone. She’s trying to fish a condom out of the pool when Pippa’s ex-boyfriend. Danny, Jack Rowan (“Peaky Blinders (TV)”, “Noughts + Crosses (TV)”), comes crashing into the pool. Dead.

The bosses announce Danny’s death, suicide from one of the funnels. Jamie manages to get into his sister’s phone and finds a dick pick with a tattoo. Hamish, James Phoon (“Dodo (TV)”, “Bridgerton (TV)”), and the other ‘it’ girls convene in Sophia’s, Alice Nokes (“The Spanish Princess (TV)”, “Ted Lasso (TV)”), cabin and Hamish says they want out, they didn’t sign up to deal drugs.

Jamie and Vivian, Thaddea Graham (“Doctor Who (TV)”, “Curfew (TV)”), attempt to see if it was Danny on Pippa’s phone so head to the morgue. They find that Danny didn’t commit suicide. Sophia heads to see Sam, Louis Boyer (“The Ledge”, “Outside the Wire”), and tells them they all want out. He says he’ll speak to the officers.

Sophia gets a scare whilst in the toilet and Jamie and Vivian need to see the Filipinos on the ship but need Olly’s, Anthony Rickman (“Enola Holmes”), help to get to the engine room to see them.

They find out it was one of the officers who has the tattoo, after both Jamie and Vivian both end up getting a tattoo. Cormac, Peter Claffey (“Bad Sisters (TV)”, “Harry Wild (TV)”), winds up getting seen by one of the officers whilst he’s following his ex in the corridors.

Jamie and Vivian decide enough is enough and it’s time to call the police. Sophia is chased by someone with a knife and Jamie manages to save her. Whoever it is isn’t in the usual duck costume but has covered their face.

I feel we are probably no closer to knowing who the actual killer is, or why they are killing, I suspect most of what we have seen is a wild goose chase, or duck chase if you prefer.

I’m intrigued enough to want to keep watching, I’d like to know who is behind it all and the reasoning, but otherwise it feels a little cliched and flat at times and all too familiar.
