The Last Days Of Ptolemy Grey – Episode 2, Robyn

Take The Shot

11th March 2022

Hilliard (Hilli), DeRon Horton (“Dear White People (TV)”, “American Horror Story (TV)”), tries it on with Robyn, Dominique Fishback (“Judas and the Black Messiah”, “Project Power”), whilst she’s sleeping. Robyn fights back, kicking him and drawing a knife.

Niecie, Marsha Stephanie Blake (“An American Pickle”, “How to Get Away with Murder (TV)”), bursts in and kicks Robyn out of the house, she can’t have her son having temptation in the house. Robyn remembers she has Ptolemy Grey’s, Samuel L. Jackson (“The Banker”, “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”), key.

When she goes to Grey’s house she finds that his place is a mess, the toilet doesn’t work, he does number two when Reggie comes to take him to eat and number one’s in empty bean cans that he pours down the sink. Grey keeps hitting himself in the head, trying to remember, but Robyn keeps stopping him.

Robyn isn’t having any of this and begins the task of cleaning the entire apartment from top to bottom, including getting rid of a lot of the junk that’s lying around. She fixes the toilet and scrubs the whole place down. However, there’s a room off the lounge that Grey has padlocked, he doesn’t want anyone to go in.

He says this room is Sensia’s, Cynthia Kaye McWilliams (“Bosch (TV)”, “Coyote (TV)”), his deceased wife’s. Robyn needs to bug bomb the ‘roach infested apartment though, she convinces Grey to let her in. Inside, besides the cobwebs, is all Sensia’s stuff: dresses, jewellery, photos and paintings.

They head to the store to buy some bug bombs and on their return they’re attacked by a woman outside Grey’s apartment block who says he owes her money. Robyn fights her off and Grey says she made her way into his apartment once, knocked him down.

Whilst cleaning Billy, Martin Bats Bradford (“Panic (TV)”, “Synchronic”), who has been helping, finds the doctors appointment Reggie made for Grey. Grey obviously doesn’t remember. Billy comes by and they head to the appointment, it’s in a massive mansion.

Dr. Rubin, Walton Goggins (“Tomb Raider”, “The Unicorn (TV)”), is delighted to see Grey. He tells him and Robyn that they’ve made a drug, a couple of shots and in a weeks time Grey will remember everything, even things we can’t remember from our lives. However, there are downsides, but Rubin won’t tell Robyn what they are.

Instead, they can administer a single-shot which will provide Grey with around 24-hours of lucidity and Dr. Rubin can tell Grey what the side effects are and he can make the decision about whether to go ahead or not himself. However the initial treatment can only be given once.

The next day and Grey is amazingly lucid, as if nothing has ever happened. He asks Robyn about Reggie’s death and says he wants to see where he was shot. Robyn reminds him that the shot doesn’t last very long, but he doesn’t seem bothered.

The pair head to the spot of Reggie’s death and Grey learns that he was there and seen arguing with another man, someone with spiky hair and a zig-zag scar over his left eye. Grey says he has to help find Reggie’s killer, after all he did for him, what kind of man would he be if he didn’t? He doesn’t care what the side effects of Dr. Rubin’s treatment are, he wants it.

Another great episode of The Last Day Of Ptolemy Grey from Apple TV+. Watching Jackson is just so easy, he makes it so easy, so effortless, it’s an absolute pleasure to see. I am about ready to see Grey begin to find the killer though, I thought we’d be a touch further on than we are, but still, what we’ve seen so far is intriguing.
