Star Trek: Picard – Episode 5, Imposters

Now that the unpleasantness with Vadic is out of the way, the Titan has paused on the outer edge of Federation space in order to make some much needed repairs to various ship functions.

Onboard and Liam Shaw, Todd Stashwick (“12 Monkey’s (TV)”, “You, Me And Dupree”), is back as the Captain of the Titan and informs Jean-Luc Picard, Patrick Stewart (“Logan”, “The Kid Who Would Be King”), Seven of Nine, Jerry Ryan, and Will Riker, Jonathan Frakes, that he’s already informed Starfleet of their whereabouts.

However, it’s a most unexpected person that turns up to interrogate the pair under some lofty charges. Commander Ro Laren, Michelle Forbes (“Berlin Station (TV)”, “New Amsterdam (TV)”), arrives with two security guards and begins asking Picard about his son, Jack Crusher, Ed Speleers (“Downton Abbey (TV)”, Outlander (TV)”).

Meanwhile Doctor Beverly Crusher, Gates McFadden, examines the changeling to try and ascertain how it has managed to bypass the usual Starfleet checks; what she finds is not good news, for anyone.

Elsewhere, we see Raffi Musiker, Michelle Hurd (“Daredevil (TV)”, “Lethal Weapon (TV)”), and Worf, Michael Dorn (“Arrow (TV)”, “Ted 2”), preparing for a fight. They get one when they track down Krinn, Kirk Acevedo (“Arrow (TV)”, “12 Monkeys (TV)”), the Klingon who has a speciality in breaking into high security areas.

We begin to see how all of these people are / could be / will be intertwined and how the storylines will begin to converge too. At the same time we are learning more and more about young Jack who, so it would seem, is anything but a chip off the old block as the visions he had at the end of the previous episode continue, and then some.

A decent episode of Picard that moves things along, generates some further intrigue for future episodes and has a smattering of action for good measure.
