Picard is back, front and centre in episode seven of Star Trek: Picard, but more than that, there are more cameos for us to shake a stick at, and they’re doozies!
But I’m get ahead of myself, first, we have to get the gang away from the Borg cube and get the gang back together.
Soji is unsure who to trust, perhaps understandably given what she’s been through. Picard, and his old friends, do their best to convince her that she can trust him.
On board the star ship meanwhile, Rios, Raffi and Agnes manage to evade the Borg Cube but are being tracked by everyone’s favourite goth space-singer Narek.
How can he know where they are going, I hear no-one ask. Well, that is answered in the early flashback of the episode when we see Agnes eating lunch and being visited by non-other than Commodore Oh. Oh, exactly.
So, we have double-crosses and triple-crosses and there’s probably even crosses we don’t know about, and some noughts thrown in for good measure along the way.
Compared with the last episode, this one is a hard-stamp on the brake pedal, particularly when we get to the homes of our old friends. It’s feels Star Trek, which may be because of the people, but the whole sentiment is there.
Unfortunately, this up and down momentum is off-putting to say the least. I still believe Amazon, or CBS, whoever was responsible, have not done themselves any favours releasing this week-to-week. It isn’t working, binge watching feels like it would have been better.
