Delays, productions that have been put on hold, and film festivals that are being cancelled or moved online. More than twenty top film festivals are now coming together for the “We Are One: A Global Film Festival”, an online film festival that will run from the 29th of May until the 7th of June.
During those ten days, you will be able to catch films from festivals including Berlin, Cannes, Toronto, Venice, Sundance, Tribeca, and the BFI Film Festival. According to Tribeca Film Festival founders Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal, the “We Are One: A Global Film Festival” will ‘unite curators, artists, and storytellers to entertain and provide relief to audiences worldwide’.

While there are no details of the programming yet, the festival will showcase films (short and full-length features), documentaries, round table events, music, and comedy. The features that will be part of this online film festival will be mostly smaller and independent ones.
Just don’t expect the major new movies that would be launched at film festivals. They will probably be screened on the big screen in the (near) future. However, don’t let that stop you from catching the incredible films via youtube.com/weareone. The screenings are free and the film industry needs us now more than ever so watch as many movies as you can and show them your support.
