It’s still early 2018 but Christmas 2020 already looks very promising. Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow have announced that they will release Sherlock Holmes 3 on December 25, 2020, with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law re-reprising their roles as the British detective and his very loyal sidekick, Dr. Watson.

So far it’s unknown who will sit in the directors’ chair this time, Guy Richie having directed the previous movies in the trilogy.

It’s already been confirmed that Chris Brancato will write the script while Susan Downey, Joel Silver and Lionel Wigram are producing the movie.

The first instalment (Sherlock Holmes), released in 2009, earned $524 million globally at the worldwide box office while Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011), the second film, took in $545.4 million. Curious to see how well Sherlock Holmes 3 will do.
