Writer/director Luc Besson has today revealed that singer Rihanna will have a large part in his upcoming $180 million dollar 3D sci-fi epic Valerian.

She joins Dane DeHaan, Cara Delavingne and Clive Owen in the film after her performances in Battleship and voice work in DreamWork’s Home.

Valerian is based on the iconic 1960s French graphic novels by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres which sees a pair of agents, Valerian and Laureline (DeHaan and Delavingne), defending 28th Century Earth from invaders.

The film already has a release date of July 21st 2017 and will be released through EuropaCorp’s RED and many are saying this is Luc Besson’s biggest gamble to date.

I for one am a huge Besson fan so cannot wait for him to return to space after he did so successfully with the Fifth Element.
