The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ board of governors met on May 1st 2018 and has voted to expel actor Bill Cosby and director Roman Polanski from its membership.

The Academy have said this is in accordance with their standards of conduct which state, amongst other things, that “members must also behave ethically by upholding the Academy‚Äôs values of respect for human dignity, inclusion, and a supportive environment that fosters creativity”.

Given the accusations levelled at both Cosby and Polanski it’s clear to see why The Academy have made the decision. The big question has to be why it’s taken so long for them to do this.
